What is the Nasal Specific Technique at New Leaf House Call Chiropractic?

The Nasal Specific Technique (NST), sometimes referred to as Nasal Specific Treatment or Nasal Release Technique, is a therapeutic procedure for the nasal passages.

It focuses on restoring motion to the nasal bones and surrounding tissues, including the very small motions in the skull sutures on the front of the face. (Orange and blue regions in the image)

The NST procedure at our clinic involves inflating a specialized balloon inside the nasal passages. Improving motion to these facial bones can help with a variety of conditions, listed below.

Conditions that may be helped by the Nasal Specific Treatment:

 Headaches/Migraines

 Snoring or other sleep issues

 Chronic sinus congestion

 Concussions

 Breathing difficulties

…and more!

What is the procedure like for the Nasal Specific Treatment?

Dr. Stewart first conducts a nasal examination to check for polyps or other features that may interfere with treatment. If the exam is clear, the procedure can continue. The specialized balloon will be inserted in one of the six nasal passages, briefly inflated, then removed. This same process is repeated for the remaining nasal passages.

Most patients notice a difference after the first treatment, though acute issues may require more than one NST session before seeing maximum improvement.

*Please note that this treatment is not within the Chiropractic scope of practice in Washington. Patients who wish to receive this treatment must be treated at one of our Idaho locations.
